The scent of pine needles and woodsmoke hung in the air, a fragrance that always grounded her. She was sitting on the porch swing, slowly pushing back and forth, enjoying the quiet. Her shoulders were relaxed, her breathing deep and even. It was a good start to her day.

That was until she saw her therapist at the door. It was the girl who used to torment her in middle school, the one who orchestrated all the pranks. She felt a jolt of surprise.

“Amy?” the therapist called. “Come on in, and let's get started.” Amy stood up. She followed her, her surprise quickly replaced by a sense of… well, she was surprised to find herself feeling completely and utterly calm.
